Support Canine Cancer Research
Panda
was one a "once in a lifetime" dog for me. He was beyond smart, beyond
beautiful, and my best pal for 12 years. In Fall of 2009 he was diagnosed
with Hemangiosarcoma. My local veterinarian
and the all the departments at Cornell Hospital for Animals were
wonderful- from medicine to surgery to oncology. He underwent surgery,
some chemo, and received all the love and support we could pour into
him. Panda was a great teacher, and my life has been forever changed by
the lessons learned during our time together.
Since his passing, I had been looking for some way that I could support
hemangiosarcoma research. I have been in touch
with several research veterinarians, to see if there was something,
anything that could be helpful from Panda's illness to their studies. A sample of
Panda's blood has been banked at Cornell for future research, but I
felt like I need to do more. Then I came across the National Canine Cancer Foundation's Friends are the Cure program.
The National Canine Cancer Foundation is a nationwide, contribution
funded, 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to eliminating
Cancer as a major health issue in dogs by funding grants directly to
Cancer researchers who are working to save lives, find cures, better
treatments and accurate, cost effective diagnostic methods in dealing
with canine Cancer.
The purpose of the Foundation’s Research Grant Program is to
encourage and provide grant support for basic, pre-clinical and
clinical research in high impact and innovative cancer research, which
is intended to develop innovative approaches to a cure, treatment,
diagnosis or prevention of cancers in dogs.
For
each person making a donation of $20 or more to Panda's NCCF fund raising page, you will receive a 30
minute Reiki distance healing session for you or your pet. If the
session is for your pet, I will Reiki charge a St Francis of Assisi
medal for your pet which you will receive by mail after the session. If
the session is for yourself or another human, you will be sent a very
special Kuan Yin bracelet that will be Reiki charged for you during
your session which also be mailed to you.
Once you have made your donation, please email me at violet1@telenet.net and we will make arrangements for a time for your Reiki session.
Thank you once again for reading, and considering to support canine cancer research, Wendy
